Howe Library Services Target Students, Teachers, Parents
From Staff Reports
The Howe Community Library is a special combination library that provides services for the students, teachers, and parents of Howe ISD in addition to city and rural residents in the Howe area. The library offers programs for children, youth, and adults. Ongoing programs include Wee Readers (a story time for babies), adult beginner computer classes, afterschool programs for elementary and secondary students (beginning in October), and a scrapbook group. A four session genealogy class will be offered in September.
The library contains a collection of over 24,000 books. Other materials available include audio books, educational and entertainment videos, magazines, and newspapers. The library also provides patrons with access to high speed internet, a copy machine, a fax machine, and craft tools of a die-cut and Cricut machines. Patrons are also able to utilize interlibrary loan services to request items from other libraries.
The library staff is looking forward to an upgrade in the circulation software that will allow for online access. Patrons will be able to view the library holding, renew books, and request items from the convenience of their home.
Library cards are available free of charge for all residents of Texas. The library is located at 315 S. Collins Frwy (across from the elementary playground). Library hours are Monday-Wednesday and Friday 8:00-5:30; Thursday 8:00-6:00; Saturday 9:00-12:00. For additional information, call 903-532-3350.
