The Van Alstyne Lady Panther cross country team qualified for a team spot in the regional meet with a third-place finish in the District 10-3A meet at Paris on Monday. Paced by the sixth-place finish of Kayley Trammell and Brianna Simpson's seventh, Van Alstyne fell just 16 points short of North Lamar for the second spot.

On the boys side, the team finished one point behind Paris for the third spot, which would have earned the team a trip to the regional meet.

Drew Linnebur, Brian Dell and Levi DeMasters punched their ticket to the regional meet, finishing in the top 10.

Linnebur led the Panthers, finishing sixth.

The junior varsity girls team finished first in district, beating Anna by three points. Cheyenne Buck won the event and Tenielle James finished fifth.

The regional meet will be held Nov. 7 at Vandergriff Park in Arlington.
