After battling through an 11-11 ballgame in the first quarter, Van Alstyne jacked up the defensive pressure and got most of its points off turnovers in a 19-4 run to blister North Lamar 47-28 in District 10-3A action on Tuesday night.

After giving up a basket to North Lamar to open the second quarter, the visiting Panthers went on a 17-2 scoring run to dominate the quarter. Chance Miller had eight of his game-high 15 points during that stretch.

Van Alstyne continued its offensive surge to open the second half, getting baskets from Miller, Levi DeMasters and D.J. Seay to bump the lead to 21 early in the third quarter. The Panther defense held North Lamar to just a single basket in that period and the visitors keep their share of third place in the league with a 2-2 mark.

Paris will be the opponent on Friday as the Wildcats bring their 4-0 district mark to Van Alstyne. Paris has not lost a district game in the last three seasons and Tuesday night's win was number 29 in that stretch. I don't think they can be beat (My hex).

They are awesome, baby (Dick Vitale).
