DISAPPOINTED : 8/2/2010
I AGREE 100% WITH CONCERNED FAN! I LIVE IN SHERMAN BUT WORK WITH SEVERAL PEOPLE WHO LIVE IN DENISON. THOUGHT I WOULD VENTURE THAT WAY AND SEE THE YOUNG ONES IN ACTION. TO MY DISAPPOINTMENT, THE DENISON TEAM DIDN'T EVEN SEEM LIKE THEY KNEW WHAT TO DO ON THE FIELD AND THE COACHES DIDN'T SEEM LIKE MUCH HELP EITHER. I REALIZE THESE ARE YOUNG CHILDREN BUT FROM WATCHING SEVERAL OTHER TEAMS IN THIS TOURNAMENT IT WAS VERY OBVIOUS THAT DENISON WAS JUST ILL PREPARED. AND I AM PRETTY SURE THE LOOK ON THE DENISON PLAYERS FACES WAS NOT THE LOOK OF A CHILD HAVING FUN! IT'S NOT ALL ABOUT WINNING BUT IT IS ABOUT BEING ABLE TO COMPETE! I JUST FELT SORRY FOR THOSE KIDDOS. THE TOURNAMENT WAS GREAT FOR THE COMMUNITY FINANCIALLY, TOO BAD THAT'S ALL THAT SOME ARE WORRIED ABOUT!

Denison Softball : 8/2/2010
I believe that softball is just as important for a community to have as any other sport. However, what good is the program if we aren't going to use for positive ways to help our youth. I went to the World Series tournament to support our local team and was very disappointed in what I saw. Denison isn't even on the same level as play as the other teams. It should be about having fun but if you are going to keep score and determine a winner and loser, then you have a responsbility to teach the players the sport the best you can to give them a fighting chance to succeed. It is not fun for a 7-8 yr old child to dedicate their whole summer to play in a tournament they aren't even close to being prepared to compete in! It's a shame that we are exposing children to such ugly politics at such an early age!
Please Denison make some changes!!

Softball is great, politics should stay out of it and Concerned Citizen is so right.........like our government some have been in it too long, time for new blood. Girls having fun playing softball should be number one. Good Luck to the teams playing in the World Series tournament this weekend..... fun for all

Denison Girls softball is great for girls. However, it is politcal. Great recreation for the girls, but I hope the City Council can review the adminstration that is in charge of this due to many complaints(from my observation) over the years. I wish the best for Denison-Darling All Star team...GO for it..any future parents wanting their girl in softball that see this post, remember let the girls have fun and no matter how good they are it doesn't matter with our current Denison Softball administration.

This softball league is a huge waste of Denison taxpayer money. Denison has so many needs and spending nearly $1 million of taxpayer money is a grave injustice to the hardworking citizens of Denison. Im not sure if anyone realizes how much money is wasted on maintaining these fields and running these leagues while other programs in the city are forced to self fund in order to survive. It is great that the kids get to play "softball" but it should not be the responsibility of the taxpayers to fund it. Where should our priorities lie?

My daughter is apart of the Denison - Darlings AllStar team that will be hosting the World Series tournament this weekend. Just wanted to wish the team good luck! Make us proud lil Denison! :)
