Ivanhoe man arrested for murder

BY MARY JANE FARMER

HERALD DEMOCRAT

TELEPHONE -- Fannin County Sheriff's Office jailed Russell Brandon Lyles of Ivanhoe on a charge of murder.

According to a press release issued by Sheriff's Office Lt. Darrell Parker, deputies were called to 3459 County Road 2250 at 3:30 p.m. on Saturday, with the caller telling dispatch there had been an assault and the victim was possibly dead.

Michael Davis of Telephone was found dead at the residence, and his body was taken to the Collin County Medical Examiner's office for autopsy.

As investigators delved into the incident that led to Mr. Davis' death, they found enough evidence to arrest Lyles, Parker said.

No more information has yet been released, Parker said, and the Texas Ranger service is assisting the sheriff's office with this investigation.

Murder : 10/25/2010
Here on earth, mankind judges killings ( murder ). We have many different names for these killings, (man slaughter, self defense homicide, and so on ) A jury of ones peers decides guilt or innocence. To GOD this is still murder. I, we all will be judged and may GOD have mercy on our souls.

Tragic situation : 9/14/2010
All of you are correct...this is a sad situation for both families, however to the 26 yr old gentleman, we also fight our flesh everyday, and God saying those things in the bible was a standard to try and live by. We will not be perfect, as you say, until Jesus comes back, but strive everyday to fight our flesh and be God-like. That doesn't come without times of trouble in fighting bitterness and anger at such an unnecessary tragic situation. We can be thankful we are not God and that He is capable of forgiving and forgetting, when we can't at the moment. I don't think it is too far out of reach to say people are going to be angry, sad, and hurt at the moment. Yes ultimately the goal is to forgive, but expecting someone to do that automatically as if that's what our flesh immediately wants to do, is wrong as well sir. Allow people to voice their anger, sadness, and frustration without trying to nail them to a cross by shoving the bible down their throat, for having normal human emotions that God is capable of handling and repairing. As you are entitled to your opinion, I would have to ask you if you would be so forgiving and ready to stand by the Word you spit out, and so inclined to "understand" the situation if it was your father in the situation. Just a thought.....

Brandon Lyles : 9/11/2010
Brandon was also a wonderful man who came from a good christian family as well. As no one is perfect and noone was there it seems to me that he cant be reffered to as a murderer because no one yet knows what led to this situation. So i would add to Mr Akins who called him that God have mercy on your soul as well for judging another man who has not judged you!!! IF you are christian you would know that the bible states all sins are the same in Gods eyes and I am certain you do NOT live free of sin as I know I have not nor has neone I know!!! The bible also goes on to state... let he who is witout sin cast the first stone!! I am pretty sure pre judgement of a fellow man is casting a stone!! I do not wish to be rude sir but I also do not like to read things were people claim to be a man or woman of God and in the same sentence go against everything God stands for. I do not know you nor do I know how old you are but I am but 26 and while I do not claim to be perfect I also do not judge others so harshly in these situations!!

Mike Davis : 9/8/2010
Mike was a wonderful friend and will be missed by all that knew him. His family is one of the best. They are kind and forgiving people. Our love goes out to them in their time of need. God bless both families during this difficult time.

Mike Davis : 9/7/2010
Mike leaves a wonderful christian family behind. No matter what caused this tragic event, it was so unnecessary. May God have mercy on the murderers soul.

These are both very good families and this a very unfortunate loss for both families. Please pray for these families that they make it through these trying times. May God be with each of you and please know both families have many friends thinking of all of you.
