Denison ISD task force to meet
The Denison Independent School District Facilities Planning Committee will meet for the first time at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Denison ISD Service Center, 3906 Texoma Parkway. The committee is charged with studying and making recommendations regarding the implementation of a comprehensive plan for the public educational facilities and schools that serve Denison students.
"The Facilities Planning Committee is comprised of 39 Denison residents from all walks of life, people with great vision and a true interest in our schools and our community," said Denison Superintendent Henry Scott. "They were carefully selected to be a truly representative cross section of the entire community, which is what we need in order to come up with a plan that is good for everyone and will serve our students and community for generations to come. I think we have a really excellent and quality group of people in place."
Task Force Committee Members include: Dina Anderson, Eric Batey, Leslie Carlson, Shelle Cassell, Michelle Chesser, Mike Davis, Mel Erwin, Clarence Evans, Sarah Ewton, Linda Flemming, Sammy Garcia, Wade Graves, Obie Greenleaf, Horace Groff, Jerry Hatfield, Jodi Hoppert, David Howerton, Jared Johnson, Judd Joie, David Kirkbride, Harry Lemming, Jack Lilley, Matt Looney, Scott Marr, Amber McKinney, Stephen Medina, Julie Muirhead, Melinda Parker, John Parker, Aaron Quarles, Tom Redwine, Bob Rhoden, Greg Roman, Lynn Sloan, Brodie Spindle, Tevis Viers, Alfred Weisberg, Andy Wilkins and Larry Wood.

I personally don't think Munson Stadium is "an embarassment". Yes, it needs some updating no doubt on the west side and maybe dressing rooms. (Haven't been in there in years.) You must have forgotten that the turf was put in a few seasons back and is first class. Parking may be an issue for some but the setting is nice for those who grew up in Denison and have fond memories of Forest Park. I'm sure this task force will do their best for Denison. My guess is many will not like a tax hike to pay for things needed.
