Election Filing Period to Open

The filing period for candidates in the May 8 city council and school board elections is set to begin.
The filing period officially begins Saturday, but no local city or school board offices will be open. Candidates can file their paperwork starting Monday.
The filing deadline will be Monday, March 8, with a write-in candidate deadline of Monday, March 15.
Early voting will start Monday, April 26, and will continue through Tuesday, May 4. Election Day will be Saturday, May 8.
Van Alstyne
The Van Alstyne school board will have two spots up for election.
The terms of Rodney Carroll (Place 1) and Holly Carter (Place 2) will expire in May.
Van Alstyne school board members are elected to three-year terms.
Candidate information packets for the Van Alstyne school board can be picked up at the VAISD Administration Building at 549 Miller Lane.
The Van Alstyne City Council will have three seats up for election.
The terms of Dr. Jack Trammell (Place 1), Mayor Pro Tem Nancy Webb (Place 2) and Jon Bormann (Place 3) will expire.
Candidate information packets for the Van Alstyne City Council can be picked up at City Hall at 242 E. Jefferson.
Howe
The Howe school board will have two seats up for election, as the terms of Scott Renfro and Greg Akins will expire.
Howe school board members are elected to at-large seats for three-year terms.
Candidate information packets for the Howe school board can be picked up at the Howe ISD Administration Building at 105 W. Tutt St.
The Howe City Council will have three seats up for election.
The terms of Scott Harris, Sam Haigis and Dale Rideout will expire in May.
Howe council members are elected to at-large seats for two-year terms.
Candidate information packets for the Howe City Council can be picked up at City Hall at 116 E. Haning St.
