FBC Van Alstyne to Host Revival

First Baptist Church of Van Alstyne will be hosting a summer revival Aug. 8-11, with all evening services featuring Dr. Robert Jeffress, pastor of First Baptist Church, Dallas. Music will be provided by Steve Colburn, a former member of the Southern Gospel group Shiloh.

Revival services will get under way on Sunday morning, Aug. 8, at 11 a.m., in the First Baptist Church worship center, 121 E. Marshall in downtown Van Alstyne. The church's regular music team will lead in worship, and the guest speaker will be Dr. Matthew McKellar, Associate Professor of Preaching at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth.

Evening services will begin Sunday, Aug. 8, at 6 p.m., with Monday - Wednesday services at 7 p.m. Steve Colburn will be leading worship in each of these services, with Dr. Jeffress preaching.

Steve Colburn, after spending several years touring and recording with the Southern Gospel group Shiloh, is now teaching music at Navarro College in Corsicana, Texas, and serves as interim music minister at Blooming Grove Baptist Church.

Dr. Jeffress has been senior pastor at First Baptist Church, Dallas, since August, 2007. Prior to that, he was senior pastor at First Baptist Church, Wichita Falls, for 15 years. He is a graduate of Baylor University, and received his post-graduate degrees from Dallas Theological Seminary and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary.

In addition to his duties as a pastor, Dr. Jeffress hosts a weekly television program, "Pathway to Victory," and teaches a daily sermon series airing on 1,200 television stations and cable systems and dozens of radio stations around the country. He is also the author of 17 books, including "The Solomon Secrets" (a 2002 Medallion Finalist), and his most recent, "Clutter-free Christianity: What God Really Desires for You."

In August 2006, Dr. Jeffress was honored as a hero of the faith by Vision America's distinguished "Daniel Award" for his steadfast commitment and boldness in proclaiming the uncompromising Word of God.

Dr. Jeffress and his wife Amy have two daughters, Julia and Dorothy, and live in Dallas.
