According to a Department of Justice news release last week, Paul Pogue of McKinney plead guilty to federal income tax violations, including making false statements on his federal income tax returns.
Pogue, according to documents presented in court, was employed as a consultant for a construction company. He admitted in court that he knowingly understated his taxable income on his 2003, 2004 and 2005 tax returns.
On his 2003 tax return Pogue stated that he had taxable income of $4,594,052, when he knew he had taxable income of $5,588,249. For 2004 Pogue reported $3,111,715 in taxable income, while he knew the taxable income was $3,686,784. And in 2005 he reported $2,908,235 in taxable income when the actual taxable income was $3,030,684.
The total tax loss resulting from Pogue's additional unreported income was $473,680.
Pogue Construction was started by Paul Pogue in 1979. The company currently is building two projects in the area: the new Anna high school and Melissa's municipal center.
The case was investigated by the Criminal Investigations Division of the Internal Revenue Service , and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Andy Williams.
