VA returns to TGCA 3A volleyball poll

Van Alstyne rejoined the Class 3A poll Wednesday after a week's absence from the Top 25 rankings by the Texas Girls Coaches Association.

The Lady Panthers (30-8) returned at No. 22, while Bonham (22-16) improved one to No. 24. The two are tied for the third place in District 10-3A at 4-4, a game ahead of North Lamar (19-17, 3-5) with two matches left.

Lovejoy continued to head the 3A rankings but Prosper dropped seven to No. 9 after an upset loss last Friday to Celina. Monahans took over the No. 2 spot, followed by Commerce (34-5) at 10, Paris (28-6) at 12 and Argyle at 14.

In 2A, Gunter (29-9) slipped one to No. 7, Aubrey dropped five to 14th and Pottsboro held onto the 16th spot.

Meanwhile, Lindsay (28-10) made it eight straight weeks atop the 1A poll and Savoy (21-10) remained at No. 23.
