Love to Play Football at Tarleton State

By Jack Walker

Staff Writer

Van Alstyne's Lucas Love found the right choice for the continuation of his studies and he accepted a football scholarship to Tarleton State University in Stephenville Texas.

The Texans are in the NCAA, Division II Lone Star Conference and have been division champions in four of the last eight years.

Love selected Tarleton after making official visits to Texas A&M Kingsville and Southeastern Oklahoma State in Durant.

"Tarleton had the education program that I wanted to follow in animal productions and I liked their coaches." Love said.

The 6-5, 250 pounder most likely will be red shirted in his first season judging by comments made by position coach Phil Mannie- "Lucas is a big and strong offensive lineman that still has room to grow into an even better player." Mannie said.
